Parker Street Mixed Use Development Unanimously Approved by Newburyport Zoning Board
79 Parker Street is currently an underutilized historic farm site located within Newburyport's Business and Industrial Park. Over the past few years, the identity of the industrial park has evolved from almost all manufacturing to the home of more diverse destinations like breweries, restaurants, and workplaces. This evolution of the land-use is critical to maintaining the viability of this region of Newburyport, while opening up the possibilities for expansion and new destinations for locals and visitors. Our client's exciting vision for this site is to preserve and restore the historic farmhouse while transforming the use of the site to a community gathering destination with co-working space, a multi-purpose functional hall, brewery and tasting room with a full service restaurant.
Recently, our proposed design for a mixed-use development at 79 Parker Street in the industrial park received final approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals to allow additional uses (not currently allowed in the industrial park zone). These new allowed uses include assembly space for a brewery and meeting space for a function hall. This project has also received Historical Commission approval for its restoration approach to the existing farmhouse. Moving forward, the project will be presenting to both the Planning Board and Conservation Commission in order to finalize city approvals and allow for a spring start to construction.
