WINTER HOLBEN is a multidisciplinary studio built around the concept of seamlessly integrating architecture and design to create innovative experiences. We are architects, thinkers, makers, designers, and curators, dedicated to creating smart and engaging environments for our clients, their visitors, patrons, and employees alike.

We believe in big ideas and a small team approach, and in close collaborative work with our clients. The cross-pollination of ideas around the studio excites us, and the world outside our walls inspires us. Our team is dedicated to the Seacoast region, where we live, work, and play, and where we are inspired everyday by the natural landscape and the kind and creative folks who make up our community.

Our studio is located at "THINKYARD", a cooperative workspace located in the heart of the Kittery Foreside. We’re lucky to spend our days working amongst many creative entrepreneurs in a friendly and welcoming environment. We look forward to your next visit!

Brand Experience Designer 

The Brand Experience Designer will report to and work closely with the Principal/Design Director on a variety of projects to include (but not limited to) brand development (identity, wayfinding and product development) and retail experience (strategy, fixtures, architectural features and environmental graphics). With a focus on creativity and design thinking, you’ll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of architects and designers, as well as the Principal Architect and VP, Marketing & Operations.

Responsibilities include:

-Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials and collaboration with design team
-Creates concepts and development based on project goals and objectives
-Assisting with initial concepts through final documents and details
-Creation of presentation materials
-Understanding of technical aspects and details to create design intent documentation
-High level of collaboration with other design staff/disciplines
-Exercising independent judgement in evaluation, selection, and use of standard techniques
-Exhibiting an overall commitment to design excellence and industry best practices

Skills & Qualifications

-Degree or equivalent education in graphic design
-3-5 years of design experience
-Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web
-Required: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
-CAD tools skills a plus, but not required
-Flexible team player

Graphic Designer 

The Graphic Designer will report to Principal/Design Director and work closely with the VP, Marketing & Operations on a variety of projects to include (but not limited to) brand development, marketing and business development (presentations, proposals, website design, social media and additional marketing assets). With a focus on creativity and design thinking, you’ll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of architects and designers, as well as the Principal Architect and VP, Marketing & Operations.

Responsibilities include:

Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials and collaboration with design team. Creates concepts and development based on project goals and objectives.
-Assisting with initial concepts through final documents and details
-Development of concepts, designs and imagery for social and web
-Creation of graphics and layouts for content marketing, case studies, proposals and more
-High level of collaboration with other design staff/disciplines
-Exercising independent judgement in evaluation, selection, and use of standard techniques
-Exhibiting an overall commitment to design excellence and industry best practices

Skills & Qualifications

-Degree or equivalent education in graphic design
-2-5 years of design experience
-Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web
-Required: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
-Social media content development experience
-Video editing skills a plus but not required
-Flexible team player

Architectural Designer 

Individual must be energetic, self-starting, have excellent communication and organizational skills, and enjoy collaborating with a team. This individual will report to the Principal Architect and work closely with the team of design professionals at WH on a variety of projects with responsibilities including creativity, design thinking and collaboration with other design disciplines.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Coordination of projects through design phases
-Contribution to presentation, production and technical drawings
-Communication and coordination with team members
-Exhibiting an overall commitment to design excellence and industry best practices

Skills/Qualifications

-Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
-2-5 years experience, working towards becoming a licensed architect
-Experience in Design, AutoCAD Architecture, Sketchup, Construction Drawings
-Experience with ADA, building codes, zoning and historic district committees a plus
-Excellent written and verbal communication
-Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail
-Positive attitude and the desire for growth with our firm
-Commitment to a high level of client/customer service
