Redefining Maine Dispensary Design
When CEO Dana Brearley and his partners at East Coast Cannabis enlisted WINTER HOLBEN to design their boutique cannabis retail experience, it was clear that creating something truly exceptional was their goal. Standing out from the competition in their rapidly growing industry and crowded regional marketplace in southern Maine also made creating a distinct design imperative.

Their well defined brand "live the adventure" and highest quality products set the stage for a design process that was truly collaborative resulting in a retail design like no other in the cannabis space. WINTER HOLBEN utilized our full range of integrated services (brand strategy, architecture, interiors, and experiential graphic design) to bring this project to life. Working within a portion of a newly constructed industrial metal building, (including their large state-of-the-art grow facility) the scope of work included fitting out the shell space and adding distinct elements to the exterior. The East Coast Cannabis flagship store is in construction and coming to Eliot, Maine in 2024.

- Overall customer journey experience mapping and strategy
- Custom glass storefront and window display with integrated branding
- Angled vestibule with custom branding and distinct details
- Friendly and functional check-in desk
- Grow house viewing area with custom Shou Sugi Ban wood surround
- Custom designed modular retail displays and areas
- Flowing curved "bud bar" for consultative transactions, viewing into kitchen, and learning/hosting area
- Custom suspended mountain shaped canopy
- Environmental branding elements (branded focal points, integrated digital content)
